General Questions

How much does it cost?

Nothing. Becoming an alumnus is absolutely free! We don’t want there to be any barriers to plugging into our thriving community, so we offer our services, resources, and activities free of charge.

Do you have to graduate to be an alumnus?

While many of our alumni are graduates of our programs here at Delphi, you do not have to be fully graduated to participate and become an alumnus. This offer is also extended to those in the IOP stage of treatment.

What activities do alumni do?

Here are just some of the activities we get together for every quarter:

  • Escape rooms
  • Everglades airboat tours
  • Bowling
  • Movies
  • Beach BBQ
  • American Ninja Warrior challenges
  • Paintball

This is not an exhaustive list, and alumni are encouraged to suggest activities they would like to do to their committee members.

Alumni Committee Chair

How can I join the alumni committee?

To fill a chair on the alumni committee, you need to fulfill these criteria:

  • You must have a minimum of six months sober.
  • You must be engaged in a type of recovery program, fellowship, community, and/or routine.
  • You must be willing to commit to being on the alumni committee for three months.
  • You must believe in the mission of the alumni program, which is to ensure that all discharged clients remain connected to the place their recovery journey began and never feel alone.

What does an alumni committee chair do?

The alumni committee chair is responsible for creating committee schedules, running alumni meetings, choosing each meeting’s focus, arranging a speaker, looking for opportunities for meeting improvement, as well as staying in contact with our alumni director. Alumni committee chairs serve for three-month terms and then have the opportunity to pass the torch.

Relapse Questions

What if I relapse while in alumni?

To attend our face-to-face meetings and events, you must remain substance-free. However, if you relapse, that doesn’t mean you are kicked out of the alumni program. You can always reach out to your crisis hotline, mentor, or alumni services staff to get the help you need after a relapse. You will need to be cleared by a staff member in order to return to the meetings and events.

How will being an alumnus help me get a job?

Our alumni services staff are always eager to help our alumni find gainful employment to support themselves and fill their time with meaningful and productive activity. We have established relationships with local businesses in the community and use our rapport to help alumni find and keep jobs through a personal referral from us.
